Reader Response #6: Find a Poet

I like not only this poem, but the way Lola Beth wrights all of her poems. But this one it a special one to me. This on reached out the most to me. I like this one because not only is it very true to have the memories of good and bad times, some you want to remember some you wish you could for get or never had. The thing I don’t like about this poem is that it’s not a meaningful or sad or happy poem it makes you feel the way you want to feel about it if you can read this poem and think of happy memories and very little bad ones but to others they can only think of the bad things that has happened to you instead of the good.
This poem connects to my life because there are memories that I often recall not wanting to remember. I maybe 16 but I have memories that I shouldn’t have at the age that I am. A lot I would like to forget. But I will never regret the things I’ve seen or heard. Because of those things I am a stronger person today. It’s those memories and those thoughts is what will make me able to withstand the hardest times in life
My personal definition of poetry, would be words that can flow together with meaning, these words must tell somewhat of a story. Poetry to me shows a strong person because the things there writing about the have over come and are willing to Wright about it for the whole world to see. Poetry could be funny, or serious. That’s what poetry means to me

"Memories"

Memories are intruding things,
often we recall,
things we never,
ever planned,
to think about at all.
Tis true there's times we do embrace,
this sometimes private, special place.
Thinking back to what life's brought.
A day can hold so many thoughts.
Some bring laughter, some bring tears.
Many last throughout our years.
If only I could pick and choose.
Some memories I would gladly lose!

Reader Response #6: Eggers Site

826 National is a school where kids may go to achieve a better reading and writing stance. This could help our school out very much. The average reading level in Thurston for 10th Graders is not what it should be. I think that if we got some of our students who need the help in English, to go to this program at 826 National we could improve our not only 120th grade reading level but 9th and we could go all the way to 5th grade that way by the time these kids come to Thurston they well already have meet the standards.
I think we could help 826 National by being the costumer. Thurston needs the help with that department and not only Thurston but the middle schools. If South Redford School District got involved with this program then we would most likely have a higher class G.P.A and a better graduating percentage. We could also help by word of mouth. Talking about it with other people from other districts would get more business for them and telling parents about this would help also

Blog #5: Friendship

I found a song that makes me think of friendship. Makes me think of a fun time being out with my friends. This song called “The Rock show” by Blink 182. Every time I hear this song makes me think of summer time driving to the Vans warped tour 07. The song explains how a guy went to a rock show and meets a girl that he’ll never forget. Its kind of a love song but I don’t see that way I see it as being a guy who’s fallen in love with a girl and his best friends are there to see it thought. This most fits into my life because when ever I get a girlfriend I know am going to have my friends there to support me

Blink 182 “The Rock Show”

Hanging out behind the club on the weekends
Acting stupid, getting drunk with my best friends
I couldn't wait for the summer and the Warped Tour
I remember it's the first time that i saw her...there
She's getting kicked out of school cause she's failing
I'm kinda nervous, cause I think all her friends hate me She's the one,
she'll always be there She
took my hand and that made it i swear
Because I fell in love with the girl at the rock show
She said "what?" and I told her that I didn't know
She's so cool, gonna sneak in through her window
Everything's better when she's around I can't wait til her parents go out of town
I fell in love with the girl at the rock show
When we said we were gonna move to Vegas
I remember the look her mother gave us
17 without a purpose or direction
We don't owe anyone a f@*#$%$ explatation
I fell in love with the girl at the rock show
She said "what?" and I told her that I didn't know
She's so cool, gonna sneak in through her window
Everything's better when she's around
I can't wait til her parents go out of town
I fell in love with the girl at the rock show
Black and white picture of her on my wall
I waited for her call, she always kept me waiting
And if I ever got another chance I'd still ask her to dance
Because she kept me waiting
I fell in love with the girl at the rock show
She said "what?" and I told her that I didn't know

"Reader Response 3: Huck Finn (14-18)"

Huck was impressed by the Grangerford’s house because where he came from people didn’t dress, act, or live like that. The house was huge. The people were rich but yet so nice to Huck. They treated him like a son like he was a Grangerford’s. Huck said “what a mighty nice family and a might nice house. I haven’t seen no house like this in the country before” Ch.17, pg.75 and para.3
The books in the Grangerford’s house were special because the help huck. Huck never got much of an education. Huck saw these books as classics. Twains view of education was not so bright. Twains view of education was important but to huck and the people and the time line this book took place in, it wasn’t very important.
What’s unique about the drawings, poems ect, was that they were so descriptive. The Girl seems to be obsessed with art. Twain made this very descriptive because he wants the reader to see what he’s seeing and his imagination and the significance to the girl on the bridge was it was supposes to be the girl and she need more help and she feels like she wants to give up. Like she can’t handle it with just her. Huck is so touched by the art because he see she needs help and want to do anything he cant to help her.

moarls in Huck Finn

Huckleberry Finn has a lot of morals in it. The Book also has a lot of satire in it. It talks about really issues in the time period such as slavery as well as other stronger topics. But in this book Huck has to face a lot of moral decisions. As for example when Huck is stuck in his house with his father and he can’t leave and huck thought it would be cool to live with his dad but didn’t turn out that way. Huck had to make a decision, weather to stay there and deal with his fathers drinking problem and being abusive toward him, or leave and try to make it on his own and face the world as it comes to him.
In this decision we can all agree Huck made a wise choose to leave. Instead of dealing with his father’s problem, he dealt with his own. And that’s being out on his own at such the young age of 13. If Huck would have stayed in the house with his dad then he would keep beating him till one day Huck was old enough to defend him self and could possibly kill his father one day then get in trouble with the law. So he had to make a “moral decision”
Now that Hucks gone and away from his father and his problems, he has to challenge his own with being out on his own. Now if I had to make the decision weather to leave or stay. I would stay, only because knowing that he would pass out and get tired before me. And I could slowly take everything he’s got. And hit him where it hurts in the long run make him regret ever doing those things.
But all in all I think Huck did the right thing in leaving and being on his own. He’s doing better now that he has control over his own life. Now he can tell him self what to do. And now he doesn’t have to deal with his father on his neck always being drunk and hitting and abusing him.
